Third Annual Angel Tree at Discovery Federal Credit Union

Discovery Federal Credit Union Teams Up with Opportunity House for Annual Angel Tree

It’s that time of year again—the season of giving, gratitude, and celebrating the good within our community. And for the third year in a row, Discovery Federal Credit Union is proud to continue our holiday tradition: hosting our very own Angel Tree to support families connected with Opportunity House.

Opportunity House, a Berks County–based organization, empowers individuals facing homelessness by providing safety, stability, community, and life-skills that help them rebuild and thrive. Their mission is close to our hearts, and each year we’re honored to lend a hand during the holiday season.

This year, after talking with the Opportunity House team, we decided to do things a little differently. Instead of sponsoring just one or two families, we’ve expanded our efforts to support five families, each with unique needs and circumstances.

How the Discovery FCU Angel Tree Works

Participating is easy and meaningful:

  1. Visit Discovery FCU and choose an ornament from the Angel Tree.
  2. Each ornament represents a wish list for a family member.
  3. Purchase one item from the list.
  4. Return the unwrapped gift to Discovery FCU before December 17th.
We’ll take care of the rest.

Meet the Families Behind the Angel Tree

To give each family a truly magical holiday, we’re aiming for three gifts per family member. Every ornament has been printed in triplicate so multiple wish list items can be fulfilled for the same individual.

This year’s Angel Tree represents:

  • Three single mothers—one with two children and two with three—each hoping to give their kids the joyful holiday moments they see their classmates enjoying.
  • One single father with MS, courageously raising his two young daughters.
  • A set of grandparents raising their grandchildren, along with another child they welcomed into their care after meeting them at the shelter.

Your support brings holiday magic to life. It creates memories, sparks smiles and reminds families that they’re not alone. For children, it means having gifts to unwrap and talk about with friends. For parents and guardians, it brings a moment of relief and the reassurance that their community is behind them.

Thank you for helping us make this season brighter—for our neighbors, our community, and each other.
