Discovery Federal Credit Union Spreads Holiday Cheer with Gift Donations to Opportunity House Families
Discovery Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the successful completion of its annual Angel Tree gift-giving campaign, supporting two local families through Opportunity House. The campaign, which invites members to take tags from the Angel Tree and return the corresponding gifts, has become a cherished tradition that brings the community together to brighten the holidays for those in need.
This year, Discovery Federal Credit Union adopted two families to provide them with holiday gifts. The first family is a grandparent-led household, consisting of two grandparents and their three grandchildren. After being evicted from their home, the family is currently staying at the Opportunity House. The second family includes a single mother and her three children. Although the mother has recently found part-time work, she is still actively searching for a full-time job to stabilize her family’s future.
These families’ stories highlight the importance of community support during challenging times. Discovery’s Angel Tree campaign, combined with the generosity of their members, helped raise 75 gifts, each one carefully chosen to fulfill the specific needs and wants of the families. In addition to the gifts, over $100 in monetary donations were raised to further assist these families in rebuilding their lives.
“We are truly grateful to our members for their overwhelming support of this campaign,” said Michele Smith, President/CEO at Discovery Federal Credit Union. “Thanks to their generosity, we’ve been able to make the holidays brighter for these families. It’s a testament to the power of community and the impact we can have when we come together to support one another. We are living the credit union motto of people helping people”.
Discovery Federal Credit Union would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the members who participated in making this year’s campaign a tremendous success. Your kindness and generosity are making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
