Discovery FCU Builds Play Set for a Local Child

The Discovery Federal Credit Union Team Builds Play Set Benefiting Family Affected By Childhood Cancer

When the Discovery Federal Credit Union team learned about a local family in need of support, the company reworked their schedules to make it happen. This October, team members traded their desks for tool belts, gathering in a backyard in Reading, to build a special play set for a little girl bravely fighting cancer. For her, this play set is more than a structure—it’s a place where she can enjoy fresh air and experience a sense of normalcy from her routines.

The project was completed in partnership with the Roc Solid Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families facing childhood cancer. Their mission and guidance connected the Discovery FCU team directly with the family and equipped them with everything needed to bring the play set to life. Once the build was complete, the transformation didn’t stop there. The Discovery team has Anewalt’s Landscape Contracting to thank for generously donating their time, mulching the area to create a safe and welcoming play space.

“It was incredibly moving to see her smile,” said Jennifer Pelker, VP of Member Experience at Discovery FCU. “Hearing her laugh and play made the entire experience unforgettable.”
