Discovery FCU Hosts Another Successful Annual Coat Drive to Benefit Teens & Adults Struggling with Addiction.
Discovery Federal Credit Union teams up with the Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge and the Naaman Network to raise awareness and spread warmth.
From September 15th to October 3rd, Discovery FCU hosted a coat drive with the Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge (PAATC) and the Naaman Network, who treat individuals who suffer from Addiction Disorders. All over the state, individuals come to PAATC with little to no personal belongings- including appropriate clothing to stay warm in brutal winter months. These coats offer the individuals at PAATC some comfort as they work toward their recovery.
“As a credit union that prides itself on meeting people where they are, this coat drive offers us the ability to reach out to a community that may be overlooked by some. It also allows us to make a direct and lasting impact locally while also reaching out to every part of the state,” Said Michele Smith, President/CEO of Discovery Federal Credit Union.
Members and employees alike donated warm coats and winter gear for the residents of PAATC treatment centers. The coat drive was so successful, the original end date was pushed back a week, allowing donations until the beginning of October. This year, Discovery FCU was able to collect over 50 coats, so many that multiple trips were made to collect them all.
