The Discovery Federal Credit Union Team Celebrates First Responders

For America’s 250th birthday, the Discovery Federal Credit Union team celebrated in the best way we knew how—by honoring the first responders who work tirelessly to keep our community safe!

Throughout the summer, different members of the Discovery FCU team headed out into the community, visiting local fire departments, police stations and veterans’ offices with smiles on their faces and goodies in hand. Spearheading this special initiative was Mike Byrne, our newest Business Development Manager, who helped bring the team together for an opportunity to show our appreciation to the men and women who serve our community every day.

Connecting with the Community

It was important to the Discovery team that members from different departments had the opportunity to get out into the community and meet the real-life heroes who help make Berks County such a wonderful place to live, work and call home. From firefighters and police officers to all those who support emergency response efforts, we are incredibly grateful for the important role they play.

“Giving back is a huge part of our culture, and supporting first responders and veterans is near and dear to our hearts, “said Michele Smith, President/CEO of Discovery FCU. “It’s an honor to give our staff, across departments, the opportunity to get out of the office and spend time with these heroes face to face.”

Honoring The Sacrifice from First Responders Everyday

This celebration was about more than America’s 250th birthday. It was about celebrating the people who make a difference in our community every single day and reminding them that their hard work does not go unnoticed.

From all of us at Discovery Federal Credit Union, thank you to our first responders for your courage, your commitment and your continued service to our community. We are proud to celebrate you not just on a holiday, but every day we live safely because of your sacrifices!
