Whatever your passion is, we want you, our valuable members to help shape the future of Discovery FCU. We are currently seeking Board Directors and Associate Directors to serve on our Board of Directors. These are non-paid, volunteer positions that are extremely important to the future growth and success of the credit union. At Discovery, we have a team of employees and volunteers that are very dedicated and passionate about helping our members enhance their financial lives to enjoy life. If you share this same passion and dedication, please consider joining our Board of Directors!

The Board of Directors has the ultimate responsibility for the general control and direction of the credit union, including ensuring decisions are in alignment with Discovery FCU’s mission. The board’s main responsibilities include collaborating with the Executive Leadership Team to develop strategic initiatives, review and approve Board policies and budgets, and track the credit union’s financial performance.

The Board of Directors meets monthly, typically the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are currently held virtually with the possibility of returning to in-person meetings in the future.

The Associate Director position was developed as part of the Board’s succession plan and provides a structure to ensure that potential board members receive preparation to perform successfully to make substantive contributions to the credit union. The position provides interested members an opportunity to learn board processes and gain an in-depth knowledge of Discovery FCU and the business of financial services to prepare for a role as a Director. The Associate Director is a non-voting position. You are not required to be an Associate Director to become a Director of our Board.

Associate Directors have many of the same duties and responsibilities as regular Board Directors with the exception of voting rights and the statutory and fiduciary duties of a voting Director. Associate Directors attend all board meetings and the annual membership meeting.
